Clann Machua Drama | Kiltimagh Group

Clann Machua Drama Group officially formed in late 2010. Clann Machua as a group has its origins going back to the Mayo 5000 celebrations back in the early 90’s when we formed Clann Machua Street Theatre Company to perform at various venues throughout the county and beyond, the highlight being an appearance on The Late Late Show.

The present Clann Machua Drama Group comprises of members of that street theatre group, members of the now defunct drama group and of course brand-new members. From its inception they have sought and welcomed new people into our group, some with years of experience and some performing in one of their first productions.

The Loves of Cass Maguire by Brian Friel

This is the sad, delusional & comical story of Cass, a tired and tipsy woman, who, after fifty-two years of romping as a saloon waitress in America, returns home.

Her dreams of living out the rest of her days with her beloved brother and his family don’t follow the romantic script, however, as the brother and his family to whom she turns really have no need for her and ship her off to a rest haven for old dreamers. We follow her lonely journey through rejection and eventual surrender to the make-believe survival of Eden House.
